What's My 14 Inch Tire Width?

Your vehicle's tire width (or cross section) can be found on the tire information placard on the inside of the driver's side door. You can also find its width by checking the sidewalls of your current tires. There, you'll find a series of numbers and symbols similar to: P215/70 R14. The width of your tires will be the first number in the series, measured in millimeters (mm). In this example, the tire's width would be 215.

How to Find the Height of 14 Inch Tires

There are two places to find your vehicle's tire height (or aspect ratio): the placard on the inside of your driver's side door or the sidewalls of your current set of tires. Look for a series of numbers and symbols similar to: P215/70 R14. The number directly after the / refers to the height of your tires. In this example, the height of the tires would be 70.

The aspect ratio (or height) is given as a percentage of the tire's tread width. It is measured from the wheel rim to the top of the tread. In the example above, the 14-inch tires would have a sidewall height that is 70% of the tread width. 70% of 215mm is 150.5mm. Converted to inches, this 14-inch tire has an 8.46-inch tread width and 5.92-inch sidewall height.
